About the Photographer

12 Years of Experience
Established 2013

I’m Katja Mulari, a Turku-based maternity photographer. As a midwife and a mother, I understand how significant and tender the pregnancy period is. I specialize in maternity photography and approach every session personally: my aim is to create images that tell your story — intimate, respectful, and timeless memories of your pregnancy. I work from my calm studio on Raatihuoneen tori in the historic Juselius House. The studio atmosphere is warm and reassuring; I make sure you feel comfortable throughout the session. I often recommend scheduling maternity photos between weeks 28–34, but I always adapt timing to your preferences and how you feel. I respect each client’s boundaries and wardrobe choices, and I give gentle direction so the photos look natural and striking. My background as a professional midwife makes sensitivity and safety central to my work. The pace and direction of a shoot are always guided by you: together we decide on a style — classic, pastel, or a natural outdoor environmental portrait. My approach is documentary and narrative-driven: I look for moments that reflect the expectancy of pregnancy — gazes, gentle touches, and the beauty of the belly. I direct calmly and supportively, without anything feeling staged — I want you to feel real and beautiful. Through photography I hope to give a gift that lasts across generations: memories of the time before your little one arrives. If you’d like help with ideas, wardrobe suggestions, or choosing a location, I’m happy to talk beforehand and design a session tailored to you. I serve the Turku area and welcome any questions — come and share your story so we can make those memories visible.
