I’m Mikko Kaaresmaa — a maternity photographer from Turku who aims to capture the beauty and authenticity of your pregnancy as a lasting memory. At the heart of my maternity photography are trust and a calm atmosphere: I want my clients to feel safe and natural in front of the camera. Every session is planned together according to your wishes — at my studio Studio Huone, outdoors in nature, or in the comfort of your own home. My style emphasizes clean, minimal light, playful use of shadows and reflections, and often the drama of backlight. This approach brings out the tenderness of the expecting period and highlights small details — the curve of the belly, expressions, touches, and the overall mood. I strive to make the session easy and genuine: I gently guide poses while leaving room for spontaneous moments, because the best maternity photos often come from a real connection and an honest instant. My working method is personal and well organized. First we discuss your wishes — whether you prefer intimate portraits, soft natural light, or timeless black-and-white images. We agree on location, schedule and photographic style; on the day I focus on creating a relaxed atmosphere, and afterwards I carefully retouch the images. The result is timeless, polished maternity photographs that you’ll enjoy looking at for years to come. I often photograph around the Turku region and know the local settings well — Ruissalo, nearby woodlands, and the coastal boathouses offer beautiful backdrops for maternity sessions. The studio, in turn, provides a controlled, peaceful environment where light and detail can be captured at their best.
